This policy explains what information is collected when you visit jeredyalung.com, how it is used, and the choices you have. This is my personal, professional site, where I write and share resources about medication and aging. It is separate from the services provided by Options Home Care, and it is not used to collect health information about you or anyone you care for.
The only information I ask you for directly is what you enter when you sign up for my newsletter: your first name and email address. If you email me or reach out through the site, I will also have whatever you choose to include in that message.
Like most websites, this site collects some basic technical information automatically when you visit, such as your approximate location, the type of device and browser you use, the pages you view, and how you arrived at the site. My web host also keeps standard server logs that may include your IP address. This information helps me understand how the site is used and keep it running and secure.
This site uses Google Analytics to measure traffic and understand which content is useful. Google Analytics uses cookies, small text files stored on your device, to collect this information. The data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
I use the information described above to send you the newsletter you signed up for, respond to messages you send me, understand and improve how the site performs, and keep the site secure. I do not use your information for advertising.
I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. I share it only with the service providers that help me run the site and send email, such as my analytics provider and, if applicable, my email delivery service, and only to the extent they need it to do that work. I may also disclose information if required by law.
If you subscribe to the newsletter, you will receive occasional emails from me. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. You can also email me at [email protected] to be removed.
I keep newsletter signups for as long as you remain subscribed, and messages you send me for as long as I need them to respond and keep reasonable records. You can ask me to delete your information at any time.
You can ask to see, correct, or delete the personal information I have about you, and you can unsubscribe from emails whenever you like. To make any of these requests, email [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your local privacy laws.
This site is intended for adults. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through this site, please contact me and I will remove it.
I take reasonable steps to protect the information collected through this site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security, but I work to keep your information safe.
This site links to other websites, including McKnight’s, LinkedIn, and Options Home Care. I am not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and I would encourage you to read their policies.
I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I will change the date at the top of the page, and I will note significant changes clearly.
